I am in the WP 2.7 options settings menu for the wp-stats-dashboard and don’t know how to configure it. Can you please explain.
Hi Dave,
after updating to version 1.4.5 the chart seems no more to work like in version 1.4.0, the columns are splitted in region A and region B. As I said, in version 1.4.0 it worked fine. The directory ../wp-content/cache exists and is writable.
And in my case it’s not possible since version 1.4.5 to open the Dashboard Widgets “Post views”, “Referrers”, “Clicks” and “Search terms”.
Is there anything else to configure?
Kind regards
Michael
Hi dave,
I’ve use your plugins and I love it until I got some bugs in cache.
Anyway, I use W3 Total Cache and Super Cache, I try to disable them but nothing happen..
can u fix this, since there’s no great plugin like yours..
I’ve asked about this problem in wp-forum but no one answered me
Thanks.
Hi Adi,
You’ll need to create a directory named “cache” in the wp-content directory which you’ll find in the root of your wordpress installation directory.
In your case: /home/low10000/public_html/
So create the cache directory: /home/low10000/public_html/wp-content/cache
And make it readable and writable by all (chmod 777 cache).
Let me know if this works for you.
Cheers,
Dave
Hello Dave.
Recently I took a wordpress hosted blog and moved it over to be hosted on our blog servers. Ever since the switch your blog stats plugin has not been working. Everything to do with the key seems to be alright and Askimet is working just fine all is green to go. Do you have any ideas as to what I might need to change to get this working again?
Thanks.
Hi Dave
I’ve just installed the dashboard stats plugin and I’m getting the following error message in the ’stats overview’ section.
Warning: curl_setopt_array() [function.curl-setopt-array]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /home/yellowdo/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/classes/util/WPSDMozRank.php on line 46
Any ideas whats going on here? Any help would be appreciated.
Thx
Graham
Hi Graham,
Ask your hosting provider to disable safe_mode and the open_basedir restriction in the PHP configuration.
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave,
I downloaded your plugin, and under the Word Press settings, it says this:
“wp-content/cache does not exist: please make sure that the “wp-content/cache” directory is created.”
It also asks for the “apache log path” and “type”. A previous post seems to ask a similar question, but I don’t know where to put the directory and what to type in. Please help!
Hi Catherine,
You’ll have to create a directory named “cache” inside the wp-content folder. The wp-content folder is located in the root of your wordpress installation.
The cache directory permissions should be set writable to all.
Cheers,
Dave
Thanks for your quick reply. I apologizing for sound ignorant, but where is the root of my wordpress installation?
And I apologize for my typo, too.
Try to login with ftp into your web hosting account. A useful ftp client is filezilla you can get it here: http://filezilla-project.org/
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave,

You probably want to have CURL installed and the PECL curl extension aswell.
file_get_contents is blocked for urls on your system.
Hi

The graph on my dashboard says undefined and is not registering the visits and just says undefined when i pass the mouse over it.

Hi Dave,

Hi Dave,
I noticed at the bottom of my stats overview there’s this error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: curl_setopt_array() in /home/justuski/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/classes/util/WPSDMozRank.php on line 46
Any suggestions on what I can do to rectify this? Thanks!
This is a PHP 5 function. You probably have PHP 4 installed.
I will correct this asap in the next version of wp-stats-dashboard.
hi dave…very kind of you to offer tech support. i’ve been happily using wp-stats-dashboard successfully for a few months now. yesterday my site went down. i was able to troubleshoot that problem effectively (turned out the footer of my wp theme had a nasty “eval” code with a link to “diet pills site” (yuck!), which I removed — but my stats haven’t worked since. i’ve de-activated & re-activated the plugin, re-entered the api key, but still nothing is working.
any advice would be so appreciated…thank you!
Try adding this to the index, single and page .php files:
< ?php wp_footer(); ?>
Cheers,
Dave
Dave…that did, indeed, work! I imagine there’s no way to re-capture the last few days of lost stats, but I’m delighted to have your lovely Plugin working again – thank you so much for your generous help!!
Hi Dave!
I love your plugin, and I have used it for a long time, but since I created a new blog in a different domain, I havent been able to use it at all. I have installed it correctly, but when I click on my dashboard, i get the following errors:
PHP Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file E:\home\diretornak\Web\wp-content\plugins\wp-stats-dashboard/../../cache/wp-stats-dashboard/d21652a4071817f8c48ff68afe8e1787_cache because No such file or directory in E:\home\diretornak\Web\wp-content\plugins\wp-stats-dashboard\classes\util\WPSDUtils.php on line 52…
Any ideas on whats going on? I have created the “cache” directory under “wp-content” and it’s set to readable and writable, but still nothing =[
Thanks in advance!
Hi Nelson,
As far as I can see, WordPress is installed on a Windows machine (E:\home\…).
This plugin is mostly used on Linux or BSD machines.
My advice; try creating these files manually in the wp-content/cache/wp-stats-dashboard directory with read/ write permissions set to all:
“d21652a4071817f8c48ff68afe8e1787_cache” and “21652a4071817f8c48ff68afe8e1787″.
This will solve the problem.
Cheers,
Dave
Dave, my site uses some other site analysis software on its server, but it just doesn’t meet my expectations. But your plugin seems so much better, but I can’t seem to get it to work. I must not be inputting the right blog ID because graph on my dashboard says undefined and is not registering the visits and just says undefined when i pass the mouse over it. How can I find my blog ID? Thanks for your help.
Please installl the wordpress.com stats plugin first: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stats/
And follow the instructions it presents.
Secondly reactivate the WP-Stats-Dashboard plugin.
I have this plugin installed, but I got errors:

NOTE: My blog use CUSTOM WP_CONTENT DIRECTORY and CUSTOM PLUGIN DIRECTORY
For now, try to place it on a default installation.
Wp-Stats-Dashhboard need help loading
Can you elaborate on this?
Love the plug in, just wondering what the “Engagement” figures represent?
Keep up the great work!
Engagement represents the number of comments on your blog.
Oh right thanks
Hi Dave,
I help maintaining a blog for a friend, and we use your cool plugin. however there is one thing which we are struggling with, the click stats doesn’t represent the actual value. Sometimes we can see which outgoing links people are clicking on but for the most the number is not the same as i can see in google analytics and in affiliate statistics.
Do you have any idea where we should start for troubleshooting?
BR,
Jens
Hi Jens,
By using web-analytics like google analytics or wordpress stats there is always a margin of error to account for due to incomplete page loads and such.
By installing a plugin like “statpress” which logs all stats locally (not web analytics) gives you a better point of reference.
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Dave,
Thank you for the reply, Its just we are very much fan of your plugin as it present the best way of viewing stats for the blog owner, I use the other stuff (analytics, statpress), but good to know
But it is odd it sometime works, when i click on a link on the blog it certainly gets registered, but if I click on an affiliate link in one of the posts it never gets registered, same goes for affiliate links in any widget.
Kind regards,
Jens
Hi , There might be a conflict between plugins. Can I have a look at your blog’s html?
dave,
sure no problem, the site is mentioned in my name, i have tried posting a few times, but it seems that if i put an url in the comments it gets blocked, but anyway it is in my name. and it is still specifically for affiliate links it does not work, for other urls it work fine.
Hi Dave. I added your plugin, i get stats but not the graphs.
I’ve changed themes (am now on Athlete). Any idea why this would be?
Ben
Hi Ben,
Please have a look again at the installation tutorial:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/installation/
Just installed this plugin yesterday but there are no stats although my bit.ly account indicates click throughs to the site. When I mouse over the stats graph it says “undefined”. I’ve checked some other forums and made sure that is in the footer but it’s still saying undefined. Any idea how to fix this?
Hi Dave,
Please have a look again at the installation tutorial:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/installation/
Hy Dave

What can I do ?
Hi there, remove the open_basedir restriction and turn safe_mode off in php.ini.
I like your stats plug-in and would like to make two suggestions.
1) – Not all of the “General Social Metrics” might be of interest to everyone. Allow people to choose which they would like included in the dashboard.
2) – Allow us to select a default trend value.
Keep up the good work.
Hi,
Added the suggested functionality to version 1.8.4.
Hello Friend,
I enjoy your wp-stats-dashboard plug-in, it adds to my happiness as a Wordpress user.
I do apologize for waiting until I have a problem before saying thank you for the plug-in.
Across the top of every admin page I get: “Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/user/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/classes/util/metrics/WPSDGoogleSocialGraph.php on line 138″
On my dashboard, the Stats – Overview (under General Social Metrics) shows the above warning between Backlinks and Social Graph. (their first 15 entries each shows a score of 27/26). I suspect this ‘greater than 1 fraction’ is the culprit.
Okay, now the error has stopped appearing. Ahhh, do I still tell your about it or wait until it happens again? Anyhow….
Again, thank you for developing the wp-stats-dashboard plug-in.
May I mention also that I am very impressed with your chosen avatar. The suit and tie enforces, even demands, the conjured perception of your high degree of professionalism. (It does not matter if you work in your pajamas, just don’t tell the clients.)
Thank you.
Thank you.
This is fixed. Please update to 1.8.7.1.
Buggy; I can’t get it to work even after deactivating and reinstalling. Freezes my dashboard
That is a blunt statement, could you please provide me more info. I’d like to help you out to fix the problem, please contact me by email.

Hi Dave,
After installing WP Stats Dashboard I get this error when trying to browse to my dashboard:
Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/public_html/themorningmessage.com/public/wp-content/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/classes/util/metrics/WPSDYahooRank.php on line 56
I’m running WP 2.9.2.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Luke
Thank you, that’s really helpful. I’m going to look at this problem and fix it. If anyone experiences similar issues please post a comment here. Thanks!
@dave no probs! Just give me a shout if you want me to test anything.
@dave the latest version works perfectly – thanks Dave!
Hi Dave, love your plugin. But i cant get the Stats views per day to work. All the rest works fine.
Any Ideas ?
Thanks for support

Dave, thanks for update. Now the error isn’t displayed but not data is loaded.
Hi Dave
I get the following error whenever I upgrade, install or activate a plugin –
WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘wpsd_trends’ at line 1 for query SHOW TABLES LIKE wpsd_trends made by activate_plugin, do_action, call_user_func_array, WPSDAdminAction->activate, WPSDUpgradeDao->install, WPSDUpgradeDao->isInstalled WordPress database error Multiple primary key defined for query ALTER TABLE wpsd_trends ADD PRIMARY KEY (wpsd_trends_id) made by activate_plugin, do_action, call_user_func_array, WPSDAdminAction->activate, WPSDUpgradeDao->install, dbDelta
It doesn’t appear to cause any problems – and it just flashes up whenever I do one of the above activities.
The problem disappears when I deactivate WPSD – any ideas what may be causing the issue?
That’s strange. Because the plugin doesn’t contain any ALTER TABLE statements. Can you send me more info by email? Perhaps you can grant me a login to your blog so I can have a look myself. Thanks.
Hi,
I’m having the same problem as Shadowfox has.
Have you tried the latest version?
I am having trouble installing your plugin…. I cannot find a blog
ID and I have downloaded the zip file also in word press its in the plugin there, but just cant get it to load, any help would be great…

Hi,
I am operating a wordpress site with the theme Headway 1.6.6. I installed Wp-stats-dashboard to track views of my site, though it does not appear to be functioning properly. The stats for the day display the chart, but it is empty and says “undefined” when moused-over. None of the other parts of the plugin seem to be functioning properly either. I was wondering if you might have any pointers as to what might not be working–any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Hi Dave
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner – I’ve kept the plugin deactivated for the time being – I was going to play around again after I’ve made the blog live again (it’s currently in maintenance mode). However, having upgraded to 2.01 the problem seems to be gone – I’ve tried reproducing it, but it seems solved.
I’ll keep an eye on it for the time being
I’ve installed the wp-stats-dashboard, when I want to make it active plugins
out an error message like this
Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Widget’ not found in /var/www/html/site/wp-content/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/classes/widget/WPSDMetricsWidget.php on line 8
how is the solution?
Try updating to the latest version.
Hi,
WP-Stats-Dashboard is having issues with my WordPress.com Username and/or Password. I have this wp.com account for over a year.
I have 2 tabs open. One with the WP-Stats-Dashboard Settings screen, and the other with the http://wordpress.com/profile/ login screen.
I copy+pasted the UserName into each screen, then I copy+pasted the password into each screen. Then I click the “Log In” and “Save Changes” buttons. I successfully login to my WP.com account and I’m presented with this error message by WP-Stats-Dashboard :
“WordPress.com Username or password is incorrect. Stats will not load. Please create an account at http://www.wordpress.com afterwards use those credentials below.”
I logout of WP.com and repeat the same but this time I type in my Username and Password. Same result.
I’m under the impression that some special characters in my Password are not properly handled by WP-Stats-Dashboard when passed onto WP.com.
Try changing your password without the special characters and try again. Let me know if it works.
Hi Dave,
I changed my password at WP.com (replaced the special characters with letters from the alphabet).
Result: WP-Stats-Dashboard managed to login and is populating the graphs now. It seems to be compatible with WP Super Cache too.
I will have to find another way to make my password more secure without special characters.
Hi Dave,
I turned it around, and decided not to use WP-Stats-Dashboard.
I’m reverting to my securer password, and sticking to AWstats.
Sorry amn, but that’s just the way things are.
Hi Dave,
I like wp-stats-dashboard, great plugin, tnx!
I’m also using White-Label-CMS plugin
http://www.videousermanuals.com/white-label-cms/
When I activate WP-Stats-Dashboard plugin, I can’t configure the White-Label-CMS settings anymore.
Any idea to solve this?

Hi,
I just found this plugin and i like it. But not everything is working.
Hyves check is not working.
for the facebook check i had to manually input the developer secret id and site id before it worked
And is it possible to get a field to input which link you use on blogcatalog. Cause i use http://sitedomain.ex/en (en for the language) on blogcatalog. So now i had te manually adjust your code. But it is annoying to do that every release
But the rest is a great overview of all the stats for my site.
I thought i left a response this morning
Because i found some bugs. Did i do something wrong or was it removed?
But again i do really like this plugin. It gives me a quick overview of the connected sites. But there are some issues.
Hyves:
It does not see the friends anymore. I think because the friends amount is not show on the xml.
Facebook:
I needed to input my secret id and other FaceBook Api details hard coded in the script to get it to work (Could we get a field within the setting screen to input that?)
Also the link behind the amount of Facebook friends points to my own site instead of FaceBook. I could not really find the reason for that.
BlogCatalog:
Is it possible to get an input field to input which link you used on Blogcatalog.
Hopefully it does not get removed? again.
kind regards,
Dana
